Summer Academy for Artistic Research (SAAR) brings together artistic researchers and supervisors for an intense and stimulating week in August. The activities take different forms of conversation, supervision, and shared practices. The summer academy is based on the participants' projects and activities are centered around their projects as well as questions/thoughts generated by this specific context.
SAAR is a joint Nordic project between the partner countries Finland, Sweden and Norway. The SAAR network is coordinated by Uniarts Helsinki and governed by a joint Nordic Steering Group.
The Nordic summer academy provides a supportive setting where artists undertaking a research education (PhD candidates or research fellows in artistic research) from all fields collaborate, present their on-going artistic research and receive feedback from peers and experienced tutors from leading academic art institutions. The aim is to reflect the international diversity and scope of artistic research and to provide a stimulating intellectual environment.
The Nordic Summer Academy for Artistic Research (SAAR) will go ahead as planned in Helsinki 8-14 August 2021.
SAAR will be hosted by the University of the Arts Helsinki at Hanaholmen – the Swedish-Finnish cultural centre. You can find information about the program, practicalities and logistics here: https://artisticresearch.fi/saar/activities/saar-finland-8-1482021/

Six fellows from Norwegian institutions will get the opportunity to participate - if the academy being held. Fellows who started their projects in 2019, 2020 or 2021 will be prioritized for participation.
Please note that we expect all participants to be present during the whole week.
